UK 'no resources for Mumbai attack'

British security services 'couldn't cope with Mumbai-style attack' claims Patrick Mercer

British security forces would not be able cope with a Mumbai-style terrorist attack, according to the chair of an influential parliamentary committee.

Patrick Mercer said a new anti-terror unit was needed with "a battalion's worth" of 500 highly specialised policemen and soldiers who could be called upon in case of attack.

The chair of the Commons counter-terrorism sub committee said the Olympics in London would be a "magnet" for terrorists and attacks like the one seen in India "could just as well happen" in UK cities.

Isn’t it bloody astounding Mercer said he doubted that Iraq was a threat or had any global links to terrorism and he was said to have been privy to intelligence briefings from the Ministry of Defence that any collapse of the Iraqi regime would increase the risk of attack, including chemical and biological warfare, but decided that if we want peace we must vote for war, his words.

With the war came the expected backlash and it will have been noticed that Mr Mercer then became an authority his expertise made him a somebody the vote for war and threat to this country opened doors for him that would have otherwise likely stayed closed. Now he tells us that we couldn't cope with a Mumbai-style attack and there is no sign of "peace" for the foreseeable future only more doors opening for the MP that doubted Iraq was a threat but voted for war because he could now see Iraq’s links to global terrorism that in truth never actually existed.

A policeman was ask what he would do if there were no crime, he replied invent crime and it seems to me all play to their own strength but no matter the rights and wrongs of it all we now need to listen to the advise of Mr Mercer, his world seems to be war and terrorism and now the likes of him have made it our mania.
